Teachers adding new additions to their families
Several teachers and staff at BHS have added some new additions to their families. PE teacher Gentry Wade has recently come back from maternity leave. She is a new mom to Walker and so far she is loving it and says she feels like she has a new purpose in life. Emma Brann teaches Bulldog Academy, Real World Reading and Writing, and Reading Intervention. Her daughter is Gianna and she will turn two on St. Patrick’s Day. Rachel Naughtin is a choir teacher and she has a son, Clive, who is 2.5 years old and is expecting a girl in the middle of May.
“If you had asked me when I was in high school or college what I wanted to achieve or accomplish in my life I would’ve never said having children, but now that I have my daughter Gianna she is my greatest achievement, I love everything about her,” Brann said.
“Being a mom is great,” Wade said. “I love when Walker smiles at me when I come home and that he looks for me when someone else is holding him, he’s obviously very dependent on me but I love having that responsibility and role. I’ve dreamed about having a family of my own and now I get to live it.”
“I absolutely love being a mom,” Naughtin said. “I have always enjoyed being around children, and having one, soon to be two, of my own is the most precious gift.”
“I am so excited to welcome a new baby into our family,” Naughtin said. “Clive is so excited about being a big brother, and I just know that our new bundle of joy will enhance our lives and strengthen our family. There will definitely be a lot to iron out in the beginning, but going through it for the second time is much less daunting.”
Being a new mom can be hard and there are definitely some challenges.
“Your life completely changes, it can be overwhelming taking care of a baby, trying to balance work and find time to do things like laundry and the dishes,” Wade said.
“I think one of the hardest things for me is to balance it all,” Naughtin said. “I love my job, and sometimes it requires a commitment from me outside of the regular school day.” “It is hard for me to say no to music/professional opportunities, but I also know that I will miss my coveted time home with Clive if I take on extra commitments.”
“It’s certainly difficult to balance work, life, having children and not feeling like you’re being pulled in a bunch of different directions, so really finding the proper balance for spending time with your family vs putting towards work, it takes time,” Brann said.
