Mike Berg to be inducted into BU Hall of Fame
To be inducted into any Hall of Fame is a major honor. This achievement has become a reality for former Baldwin High School football coach Mike Berg, who has recently been inducted into the Baker Hall of Fame.
“I am honored to be recognized by the Baker Hall of Fame,” Berg said. “I have some great memories at Baker as a player and as a coach. Baker shaped me into the person I am today.”
Baker University has not only created memories but also lifelong friendships.
“I have some great memories at Baker as a player and as a coach,” Berg said. “My favorite part about going to Baker was meeting new people and developing lifelong friendships.”
There is a “Baker family,” and Berg is a part of that family with former Baker University Alumni Jesse Austin.
“The Baker Family, as everyone describes it, is a real thing,” Berg said. “If you attended Baker University you have a connection with everyone else that has attended.”
“It’s really small and tight knit, if you let Baker do what it can and let the people there do what they can you essentially become a part of this tight knit family, “ Austin said.
Everyone works hard in life, Berg is among these people who work hard, both in the past and the present.
“I had great teammates and coaches that pushed me to be the best I could be,” Berg said. “I never wanted to let them down, so I always gave 100% to make myself the best player I could be.”
Berg’s feelings towards Baker University and his time at the college, as a student and as a coach, is very heartfelt.
“The people that work there cared about you when you were a student and after you graduated,” Berg said. “They will do whatever it takes to help a person be successful. Baker will always have a special place in my heart.”
