Working from home
Having a parent that works at home can be a lifestyle. Sophomore Jewel Marsh is one of those kids. Her mom Debra Marsh works and sells for Mary Kay.
“Having my mom work from home and sell Mary Kay is really cool,” Jewel Marsh said. “She has clients come to the house for facials and makeovers. Having strangers coming to our home is kind of the norm for me, it is all I have ever know.”
Jewels mom has been working for Mary Kay for just about 30 years. Jewel and the rest of her family are constantly surrounded by makeup and beauty products.
“Something that is different than just having my mom work on the computer at home, is that people we don’t know come in the house. People get to see our home and personal life. It is a different experience for them and for us. Coming over to a person’s house is definitely different than going to a salon.”
Jewel has always had her mom selling Mary Kay, so she knows no different. She has adapted to people coming over for makeovers, facials and more. It can be a bit chaotic at times, but there is a few perks to having a mom that sells makeup for a living.
“One nice thing about my mom working for Mary Kay is that going into our basement is like walking into an Ulta. It’s full of nail polish, face masks, makeup, and hair products,” Jewel said. My sisters and I are always the first to try new products when they come out.”
