We all know our teachers at BHS as being smart and educated and great at what they do. But do we really know them?

The teachers at BHS each have plenty of wacky facts to tell about themselves that might surprise some people.

Did you know English teacher Sunny Allen had another job when she was a kid, hoarded sharpies, and collected anything with a brain on it.

“I hoard Sharpies and collect anything with the brain on it,” Allen said. “My first job was working the kiddie rides at an amusement park.”

P.E. teacher Doug Kerr, also head football coach, was in sport broadcasting and the music industry during college.

“I was a radio DJ and sports broadcaster in college,” Kerr said, “and I was the lead vocalist for a Christian Rock Band called A Wing and a Prayer.”

Science teacher Jim Ashcraft helps with the chess club at BHS, but did you know he was also the president of a club during his college years at K-State.

“While in college, I was the president of the Kansas State University Airsoft Team,” Ashcraft said.

You may know the teacher David Stephens as an acting teacher but did you know he has been a lifelong metalhead fan, a person who likes heavy metal music.

“The most obvious thing that comes to mind for me is that I have been a lifelong metalhead,” Stephens said, “listening to bands like Between the Buried and Me, Pig Destroyer, The Black Dahlia Murder, etc.”
