Modern Day Heroes
When we were little we looked up to Superheroes such as Superman and Spiderman. Sometimes we forget who the real heroes are, such as Policeman, the Military and firefighters. Modern day heroes may not wear the fancy caps or tight pants, but they risks their lives everyday to protect us.
Jason Ellis, the son of Paul and Terri Ellis, and the youngest brother to Shawn and Ryan Ellis, graduated Baldwin High School in 1994. After he graduated high school he went to serve in the Navy.
“I served in the Navy for six long years as a firefighter,” Ellis said. “I am also going on 11 years as a civilian firefighter.”
Ellis still lives in Baldwin City with his wife Rebecca and his two year old daughter Isla.
The Ellis family is proud to have a hero in the family.
“He makes us so proud,” mom Terri Ellis said. “He still manages to come out to the farm and help us with chores and taking care of the pigs.”
Ellis is the Lieutenant in Lenexa, he is also working on becoming the chief firefighter since he has been a firefighter for 17 years.
“He works a lot and sometimes he has to work on Christmas or Thanksgiving,” oldest brother Shawn Ellis said. “Even though we miss him a lot, its good to know that he is out there saving lives and keeping people safe.”
