Chart-topping country music star Luke Bryan to perform in Baldwin City
On his upcoming 2017 Farm Tour, country music star Luke Bryan, with special guest Jon Pardi, will be stopping in Baldwin City to perform a concert. Baldwin City will be one of the only six stops on the tour, and the concert will take place at the Don-Ale Farms on Friday, September 29.
Bryan has been a growing country music artist for many years and has toured all across America. According to Biography.com, Bryan was was named the Academy of Country Music’s Entertainer of the Year in 2013, and his most recent album Kill the Lights (2015) has had chart-topping success since its release. Bryan also performed the national anthem at the 2017 Super Bowl.
Baldwin High School junior Jacob Hughes is the grandson of the owner of Don-Ale Farms, and is excited for the event taking place on his family’s farm.
“I think it’s a big thing for Baldwin because it puts us on the map,” Hughes said.
This event will be the first of its kind for the small town of Baldwin City. Locals as well as people from miles around are planning on attending the performance.
Freshman Addy Trendel has been a fan of Luke Bryan for years and is a more recent fan of his guest musician Jon Pardi. Trendel is one of the many BHS students excitedly anticipating the once-in-a-lifetime concert.
“It is probably not going to happen again anytime soon and if given the chance you should take up the opportunity,” Trendel said.
One of the most exciting aspects of the 2017 Farm Tour is the fact that such widely known country music stars will be performing in small, lesser-known towns that they never would have stopped at for regular tour dates.
“I think it is crazy that these country artists are coming to the small town of Baldwin,” Trendel said. “These guys are very big names in the music industry. They would usually perform at the Sprint Center or something but they’re playing on a farm this time.”
Concert tickets for the Baldwin City stop on the Luke Bryan 2017 Farm Tour are available online and at the gate of the concert for $49 in advance and $60 the day of the performance.
