Best dog breeds to own
There are many domestic dog breeds to own. While some people prefer to own big or small dogs, or anything in between, these are the best to own.
Siberian Husky
This is a medium-sized breed that originated in north-eastern Siberia, Russia. Their average lifespan is from twelve to fifteen years. They are outgoing and friendly, but also, like any other dog, very protective of their owners. The female ranges from 35-51 pounds and the male ranges from 44-60 pounds.
German Shepherd
This dog can be medium or large sized. The breed originated from Germany and the average lifespan is nine to thirteen years. They are often considered to be the smartest of all of the dog breeds. They are also very protective of their owners. The female can be 49-71 pounds and the male can be 66-88 pounds.
St. Bernard
This is a large working dog from the Swiss Alps and Italy. They are very watchful and calm and live from eight to ten years on average. The average mass is 140-260 pounds. While their size can be very unappealing and intimidating to some people looking for dogs, they are very loving and friendly animals.
Pomeranian
This small breed of dogs originates and is named after the Pomerania region in Poland in Central Europe. The average lifespan of these dogs is from twelve to sixteen years and their average weight is from 4.2-7.7 pounds as an adult. They are very energetic and outgoing.
Alaskan Malamute
This large breed of domestic dog was originally bred for hauling heavy freight because of their strength and endurance. They later became sled dogs. They typically live from ten to twelve years. The females of this breed can weigh anywhere from 71-84 pounds and the males can weigh from 79-95 pounds. They are naturally very devoted and loyal, but also very friendly.
Chow Chow
This dog is originally from northern China where it is called Songshi Quan which means “puffy-lion dog” and typically live from nine to fifteen years. The female can weigh from 44-60 pounds and the male can weigh from 55-71 pounds. While these dogs are often quiet and sometimes independent, they are also very gentle and friendly.
While having a purebred dog like those in this list may be appealing to most people any shelter or mixed dog, often called mutts, will love you just the same.
